The Omertà Report

We are taking a wait and see attitude on how Mayor Steve Noble is going to address the sales tax renegotiation that has been proposed by County Dictator Mike Hein. A reporter flat out asked the Mayor if he was "tough enough" to take on the Executive at a news conference according to one city hall insider. It's a more than fair question after all not only is Hein head of the family and Noble was thrown in as Capo of the Kingston crew with zero experience in politics or governing and has never run anything before in his life prior to being Mayor. Hein was an outsider when he became executive but he had worked under Lew Kirchner who was one of the only Democrats ever to win county wide before 9/11 when the county demographics shifted, Hein was also a smooth talker and was the county administrator, he created and was responsible for the budget and had political experience because before he became Dictator, the Chairman of the Legislature was basically the Executive, Hein had to make that person look good and sell the chair and the legislature his budget. They controlled his job and got all the credit for his work. Hein in many ways is very talented and unlike Noble he very much so earned his position but we digress. Hein is wrong on this issue and so far we are impressed by Mayor Noble on this issue. He's taking his time he's not rushing to Hein and letting him control the dialogue and he seems to be standing his ground. If this were to go through it would be a disaster. 80 cents of every dollar collected in taxes currently goes to personal, and every 100k makes up about one percent of the city budget. There is no way Kingston would not be looking at a huge increase in taxes to make up for this because instituting a new city run sales tax is not the answer nor would it ever happen, Noble is delusional even to suggest such a thing.

The one positive difference we have witnessed in the way Noble is governing as opposed to the way Gallo and Sottile governed is that  he's building a coalition instead of building a collision like Gallo would more so than Sottile. Noble is meeting with fellow town leaders and has them on his side in a bipartisan way but I cant some of those town supervisors  sitting at that table with Noble and taking him seriously, Im surprised  Quigley didnt tell him to get his fucking shine box.  Trust me, there  is just no way Quigley is not completly distracted in his own thoughts at those meetings thinking how Noble has no business sitting at the head of the table. However Noble is doing the right thing for his City so we are happy about that, we expected him to hide under his desk and have Julie talk to Hein. Is Stevie Wonder as tough as Hein? Not in this lifetime but there is strength in numbers and this is an approach that we don't see too often. There is a lot of distain by most town leaders of Kingston, they are fucking jealous cuz we are the best in the county and they can't handle it.  They seem to be giving Noble a fair shake and Noble is willing to bring them to the table which is great. All around so far the Mayor has handled the sales tax issue correctly.

Speaking of Noble we have to point out that the guy is modeling in a fashion show for some charity with Harley Davidson, he's gunna put his best make up on and get on the run way. Disgrazia! You believe this freaking guy, what is wrong with him??!! This is beyond embarrassing for the Capo of our family to be modeling like some broad on a run way, it makes us weak, it's not becoming of the office, it's not funny ha ha, it's more funny like he's a clown and its not the job of the Mayor to amuse us, write a check to the charity and that's that.

We were happy to see in DA Carnright's press release that the young woman will not face charges in the accident that killed four people in Saugerties last year. It's the right thing a lot of people on social media seemed outraged and angry but that anger and outrage is misplaced grief. That accident was just that an awful accident that poor young woman will live with that guilt of being the person behind the wheel that resulted in the death of her friends for the rest of her life and her going to jail will not bring those young men back. It's an unfortunate situation.

Former Governor Eliot Spitzer was investigated by NYPD this week for a demostic dispute with his girlfriend at a swanky hotel in NYC, the girl who's about 26 alleges that Spitzer chocked her when she brought up the idea of leaving him. Furthermore, turns out she was a call girl before dating Spitzer and it's likely how the two met. We believe Spitzer did what he's accused of doing and it shows were his head is at with the divorce, recent break up with his other girlfriend that ran his race for NYC Comptroller, he's out of control, we have nothing against the fact he was seeing a hooker, we don't judge, honeslty after the divorce and break up, we totally get how he would want to be with a person were no emotion or attachment exsists.  The rest of it though is really tragic, he never should put hands on a woman first off and secondly the guy is a very public figure, besides being a former Governor he owns a quarter of NYC real estate from Manhattan to Williamsberg, what is he doing being involved with a 25 year old that is younger than his kids and opening himself up to such trouble and ridicule? It erks us because the guy is so brilliant, tough, and has the ability to really make a difference. This guy would have been our first Jewish President and now he's the butt of jokes, it's so sad, there are some people that this happens to and it's like good riddance but with Spitzer it's disappointing, some of us worked hard for the guy in 2006 and really believed in him.

On a final note congrats to KPD Sargent Ricky Negron on his recent promotion.

  1. Hein is not talented, Noble is not going to model anywhere you made that up, please where do you come up with that? I was there when that reporter asked Noble if he was tough enough stand up to him, it was disrespectful to say the least. Spitzer is gross. It is crazy that you can cite specific budget information and extensive background information on issues and at same time be vulgar and defend someone patronizing a whore. Than you have the nerve to talk about someone disappointing someone based on their potential ability that they throw away with distructive ability. You are a text book hypocrite and narcissist.

  2. No, Jessica you have it wrong. It was noted in a community brief in our local paper that the boy wonder mayor and his wife are going to model at an event next Saturday. Which brings me to the next point that boy wonder declined to be a guest on a Saturday morning radio program as often as the host requested because weekends are for family and he wants to spend quality time with them. That is a bunch of crap because when you are mayor, you serve your constituents 24/7, not when you choose. It's part of the deal when you run for office.

  4. Please don't give this guy any credit Goodfellas, he is fooling people and has the entire party in love with him for no other reason than he's not Shayne Gallo. When he has to deal with real issues like this sales tax issue, you will see his backbone is made of rubber. Holding a meeting ain't leadership kid, keep at him you are currently the only voice of opposition against this guy, give him hell.

  5. Where have I backed off? I have no agenda to be against every single thing the guy does, our philosophies are different so there are a number of things we disagree on but if I agree I'm not going to disagree to disagree. It's important the sales tax stay where it is and Noble right now is our ally in making sure that happens, the County Dictator and the legislature would like to see Kingston get the shaft.., trust me.

  29. Noble 1 Hein -2. Noble is kicking Hein's ass in the PR game. The Freeman even put an article about Hein lying at the chamber breakfast. Hein is being called out from all quarters. Noble just has to stand by and watch. Admit it goodfellas, Hein has stepped in steaming pile of shit on this one.

    ReplyDelete
  30. A chess game is seldom settled on the third move.
    Hein will strike back.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Hein still would've had a point if he checked the math and said the tax was increased by 17%. After all, wasn't he mulling a massive job offer by a bank before the election (lol)? I thought they offered banking jobs to people who are good at math.

But he messed up and will never recover from the perception that he's a bully and liar who hasn't gotten challenged enough. I wonder what other fudges went unchallenged. Luckily Noble has a big enough platform and resources to get his side of the story out.

Such a fundamental PR fuckup on something that was already going to be a stretch. His flaccid apology letter did nothing to take control of the narrative.

  33. He's just after the city. The towns will keep their 3 percent and in exchange for that, help Hein slide the knife into Kingston.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Don't be giving kid noble that much credit. He's only looking good because "digit head" Tuey knows his shit. Noble wouldn't know where to look for discrepancies. He's out of his comfort zone.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Hein should back off, call off the legislature and let the agreement stand. He has embarrassed and discredited himself and his administration. If he is not careful he will end up with another beat down like he got from Cahill on the 1% tax. It does not matter what happens from here on out, Hein was proven a liar (again) and his credibility which was already shaky is now going to be called into question with every proclamation he makes when it comes to his staffs estimates in costs or savings, and rightfully so. Mayor Noble is correct in taking the high road, refuting the inaccurate estimates with actual facts, and proposing a long term idea to address cost reductions for all.

This is on the heels of Steve Noble accepting $12k in January for a health insurance buyout and sick time.

    1. Yes, it is unprecedented as no other mayor in the entire history of the city ever accepted such payments!

Oh and for good measure his brand new secretary is off this week on a paid vacation. In only six weeks of employment she got a raise and a paid vacation, Amazing!

  56. So this Council is just going to rubber stamp whatever Noble puts before them.

    ReplyDelete
  57. The new administration of the city is going to bring the taxpayers to their knees because the aldermen are giving their approval for raises, promotions, settlements and anything else the clueless mayor demands. Instead of putting the brakes on and moving cautiously with requests, they are giving the mayor what he wants without questioning. Try to make sense of why a buyout of $12,000 was even allowed for accumulated vacation and/or sick time AND a health insurance buyout which should have been red-flagged from the beginning. Who's asleep at the wheel of this run-away train? The royal nobles are nothing more than money grubbing, get what you can get away with at taxpayers' expense. Sickening...

    ReplyDelete
  58. It is very disturbing that the mayor's office has been closed because the newly hired assistant gets a paid vacation she isn't even entitled. In the real world you have to earn time first. This is just the beginning of history repeating itself. And if anyone is really upset about jules getting a raise and new title three months into the year, grow a set of balls and demand that the union officials take action. Poor representation of the hard-workers when this family gets a bonus everywhere you turn. So a desk audit was done two years ago..do another one to justify that queenie is actually fulfilling her job responsibilities. How is that even possible when she spent the first three weeks of the new year sitting in the mayor's office filling in as assistant? Get your heads out of your butt people and attend the council meetings and speak out during public comment that you are not in favor of these step increases and raises when there are many employees that work their tails off and get stepped on. It's a matter of survival for many of us that have to work two jobs, sometimes more, in order to pay bills. This couple simply were given everything on a silver platter just because...When boy wonder makes comments about how the city saved money by laying off DPW and Parks Department employees, he and his wife were still working during that crunch. Oh, their salaries are covered in part by grants they say. That's just bullshit because the positions are costing us plenty. The question that should be asked is "why do we need environmental educators and environmental education and sustainability coordinators?"
