Bryant Appointment Noble's First Good Pick

We support Comrade Noble's appointment of Kevin Bryant to be the city corporation counsel, and  hope that he keeps Dan Gartenstien as assistant that would be a great team. Kevin Bryant recently put his house on the market in the town of Ulster and the rumor is he was considering a move to Kingston to run for the open seat for CIty Judge next year, this appointment may be designed to give Phil Kirschner clear sailings next year. Bryant would be a tough opponent in the family court race he killed in the primary in the City of Kingston.

Speaking of Judge races, we hear Sara McGinty will run for the seat to replace Mary Work...others need not apply, she is by far the very best choice. I dare anyone to challenge her, it won't turn out pretty.

  3. A position as important as this should be given to a person who actually lives in the city, not someone who might move to the city because he has aspirations to move on. Seriously?

  4. Knew someone would have a problem with it. Sure he lives within the ten mile limit. And he does have his law office in Kingston. Good choice.

  5. The police chief and Dow sup are the two positions that should be required to live in Kingston because of the nature of their positions. I agree all department heads out of principal should live in Kingston but the city lawyer makes no difference as far as the job is concerned. He lives in Ulster not Kerhonkson, it's no big deal.

  6. Preach it brother! Get Schupp out

    ReplyDelete
  7. That would be "out of principle." "The principal who is your pal" is a simple way to know the spelling difference. That "principal" is a person or position in a school, not "an important idea."
Good choice. Probably WILL work out.
Bad choice:Zweben--that man is a NUTJOB DELUXE!!

  8. I don't even know Schupp I have nothing against the guy, I really don't. The counts about him on this blog half I don't even understand they are so inside baseball w Dpw and the union. I do think he should live in Kingston. It's not an attack on Tinti or Schupp, they are doing nothing wrong, there is no requirnment there should be and to be fair they can be grandfathered in but future appointments of department heads should live in the City of Kingston.

    2. That's bullshit.. You mean to tell me there wasn't a person within ten miles that could hand out hard hats and reflective vest?!? Oh..and water to the paving crew..on Overtime!! Bullshit. And I'm paying for this nonsense

    4. The council "waived" the ten mile rule for Schupp and grandma safety. They may have "waved" also, but they did that with their arms and hands in some parade...St. Patrick's or Memorial Day most likely....

    1. not to mention an impact on the morale at KFD.... but this must first get the funds from the common council. Not a done deal. He should take the open position of captain and be happy with that.

      Delete
    2. Restoring the Assistant Chief position while eliminating a vacant Captain's post means nobody gets bumped to make way for Rea. The financial hit to the city will be the difference between a Captain's pay and an assistant Chief's. Not nothing but not exactly ruinous to the city's finances. The big hit will be the back pay which Gallo illegally withheld for more than 2 years and which is currently accruing interest at 9 percent.

      Delete
  11. When will we know the back pay amount?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. A judge has already ordered the city to pay $219,000. to cover the period between March 2012 when his lawful 30 day unpaid suspension expired and October 2014 when Gallo finally got around to firing him. The final number will depend on whether Rea and his lawyer want to hold out for back pay covering time after he was terminated and whether they're willing to offset the amount by whatever Rea was making working other jobs after he was suspended/fired.The other thing to look out for a slander suit by Rea against Gallo for telling people-among other lies- that Rea kept bestiality porn on his work computer. I'm not a lawyer so I don't know if that would be the city's problem or just Gallo's.

    2. What's Gallo got. No job no income doesn't own a home. Not much to sue for.

  17. Chief Brown will retire and Rea will become Chief. Then they will eliminate the Asst. Chief position, reinstate the Captain promote from the ranks and everything will be as it was only with Rea as Chief. You heard it here first.

Lisa Bruck will not last in this administration. We all know how she got the job and that is all I will say about that.

    1. Well its easy to see that all these feverish posts coming in over last two days are from someone with an intense resentment towards the building dept but mostly towards two employees Ashdown and Gagliardi. Both of these inspectors generate a massive amount of revenue by way of rental inspections. How do i know? Because their names on on every invoice that is generated. Just this past year close to $ 300,000 dollars were taken in from primarily these two employees. That doesnt sound like bad employees at all. So what would motivate someone to go on this blog and bash away at Ashdown and Gagliardi? Well it just so happens that a rude, buffoonish fucking retarded laborer at DPW , Bart Robbins was called on the carpet two days ago in front of the CSEA judiciary board in Albany to answer charges that he vandalized and stole political signs at the union HQ. The judiciary board found him guilty of charges and basically called him an asshole and formally reprimanded him and basically came awful close to removing this asshole as an officer of the local. So now this dude is has an axe to grind and is now posting untrue, reckless statements about Ashdown and Gagliardi along with union Pres. Fran Fagan and VP Mike Stoutenburg. Ahhh, now all these fucked up comments coming in make sense. Its the only place, this blog that is, that this neanderthal can vent since no one takes Robbins seriously. Its perfect for a guy like him to fire away on his cell phone all day and just press the publish button and write all kinds of stupid shit. So there is the jist of whats really going on here. No doubt Bart will respond to this comment and invite us to roll around in the muck with him, but this is not gonna happen.

    2. Wow! I applaud you 10:16! I haven't read such a true and perfect statement in a long time.Thank you!!

    3. Hey dumbo 9:12, the attorneys being hired from Albany are to help with the Union Contract negotiations in 2016.(Fire, DPW and KPD) What cases are you talking about?

  28. Hear yeah, hear yeah...formally reprimanding Robbins for stealing campaign material is not enough of a punishment for him..Big deal. Strip him of his official duties and make him pay for damages. What a buffoon to think he could get away with this act.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Furthermore, leave Gagliardi and Ashdown alone. They are hard-working public servants who go out and give 110 percent every day for the residents of the city. Your comments are unwarranted and have no substance.

  30. Bart Robbins. When that jerk off walks into the shape up room at the Barn (dpw) people walk out since he is such a loud, dumb asshole. He shouldnt be allowed near any of our union dues as a treasurer of our union.

  32. Heartening to hear someone standing up for the workers in the DPW in a positive way. In recent days the rancor has been disgusting. As to Gagliardi and Ashdown they have been excellent employees ; sometimes going beyond their duties to investigate complaints on housing issues. And yes, they have generated a lot of revenue along with keeping the eyesores at a minimum in the city of Kingston. Maybe their detractors should take a look at the city budget which is now on line and check out the revenue line in the Bldg and Safety Dept.,a division of the Fire dept. If it is this Bart Robbins(never met the man), he should keep his comments to himself. Might bring him some bad Karma! As a taxpayer it is disturbing to hear these comments especially since we are paying their salary.

  37. This guy Bart Robins is totally consumed with hatred and envy towards Troy Ashdown, he needs to get help from a psychiatrist. He tells insane lies and twisted comments about him and Jill and Fran and Mike Schupp. He goes on this blog and implies crazy shit like Jill is with Jeremy and Fran Fagan is a racist. He bashes the hell out of Ed Sweeny and Ed Boyle and unleashes all his frustrations on Mike Schupp because he is a laborer for life and will always have to pick up trash behind a truck. He has been a loser all of his life and nobody he works with has any respect for him.And so here he is once again just rolling around in the muck just pushing his little " publish" button on Jeremys blog and to make himself feel better, although it would probably be better if he just smokes more pot than he ordinaryly does. Poor Bart , just rolling around in the muck saying oink, oink on jeremys blog....

    1. OH my... Hot you say? guess better hot than no personality. Seriously, probably shouldn't insult the Mayor's wife. The question is, why is she at city hall? Is that where the environmental educator belongs? Or is she second in command in the Mayor's office. Awfully strange for a position that is sorely needed (per Noble supporters) is hanging around city hall (ignoring her job description) in particular the Mayor's office. He has a secretary now. No reason for her to be there as I would imagine any issues would be directed at her boss Kevin Gilfeather. Mayor Noble is not her direct boss as was stated on the campaign trail. And so it begins....

      Delete
    2. She has enough to offer where she should be in City Hall. There is nothing wrong with her working for the administration. Julie is not a new hire she has worked for the city for years but they need to make a decision, she can't do both. Give up one.

      Delete
    3. If environmental educator position is so damn important at the Hodge Center and Zoo Nature Center, why isn't mrs. mayor taking care of the children there? Oh, that's right...there's no one there to show off her work attire and prance around like she's in charge. After all, she is the one who wears the pants in that family. The budget says fifty percent of her title is shared at Hodge Center and Zoo Nature Center, not at mayor's office as an assistant. Yeah, ball-less Gilfeather will do nothing about this too.

  45. Over the last week comments have popped up about Troy and Jill and their work in the building department as well as things about them on a personal level that are baseless and without merit. I like the both of them and will not publish comments about them at all now that are negative. There are people on the blog that get different considerations than others and I've never said different. I don't wanna be a babysitter and have to monitor comments or delete comments. We have something good here, we have the attention of the entire city government from the Mayor, to rank and file employees in every department and we have the highest readership of any alternative news source that deals with Ulster County politics. I'm not arrogant enough to think its because of me, we don't get over 3,000 hits a day because of what I have to say, it has to do with the free exchange of ideas and thoughts that we have in our comment section. It is dangerous to have no filter and allow people to say whatever the fuck they want but 99% of people do so reasonably. There is a difference between satire, critisim, a genuine difference of philosophy and negative hurtful attacks thats sole purpose is to hurt the other person. Keep the comments coming but lay off Troy and Jill, they are "friends of ours."
